KL

We are in Malaysia now, Kuala Lumpur precisely. It feels good to jump into this big melting pot and go with the flow of the city. It is the first time in South East Asia we come across more cars than scooters. Our hostel is in the middle of China town with  a rooftop bar, a  decent room and a flatscreen tv without cable. So there is a Tv in our room as the description said it would be but no cable. Our phones do not connect to it and the wifi would be not good enough anyways. We have yet to find out what the purpose for this tv really is!
The Hostel is quite nice but we have a problem with the door everyday. First day it is not opening with the key. Second day it is not possible to lock it anymore and we are told that there is nothing that they can do because it is sunday, just like home, sweet home. In the end we get a new lock. Two days later, very tired, we accidently close the door with the key being inside and come to find out that they gave us the spare key as well for the new lock. So we get another new lock and one key only this time. That was our key odyssee.

China town is lively with lots of amazing food and a hindu temple around the corner. There we meet a lovely old man that wants us to chat with some chinese tourists. It is strange and they are as suprised as us but we have a nice chat and part our ways.

KL is versatile

A must see (even 30+ years ago when my mom was here) are the Batu caves. A hindu temple located in massive caves just at the outskirts of KL where you can get a bracelet blessed by a hindu priest. A lady tells me that your biggest wish will come true once you climb the stairs up to temple and I finally get my henna tattoo. The next day we visit the national mosque and the beautiful and informative museum of Islamic Art.

The melting pot inspires us to try out a nepalese restaurant which turns out as a desaster for myself. During the night I get rid of everything inside my digestion system and at 5 in the morning we decide to go to the hospital. Eventhough I am barely paying attention to my surroundings I can tell that this is a place where they will take good care of me. The entrance of the hospital seems more like a 4 star hotel rather than a hospital. I like it. I get to go home a couple hours later after I manage to keep water down again and just go back to sleep in our hostel room. Chris checks out the National Museum. This unpleasant event makes us stay longer in KL than planned and hiking in the Cameron Highlands right after does not seem like a good idea. I take rest days and Chris takes one too, as he had very little sleep too.My souvenir from the hospital

On our last day before departure we decide to head to the KL tower. We think about going up to the rotating restaurant but we just missed high tea and dinner is a little pricey for us. Additionally we are not properly dressed but the lady ensures us that everything to take care of that is available at the restaurant. A sarong for the man and some crocs for myself, since Chris is wearing shorts and I am wearing flipflops. We then decide to just go to the observation deck about 35m below the skydeck which would be twice the price. We do not regret it. The view is still great. Annoying is the fact that you are supposed to pose twice in front of a green screen to get the perfect souvenir picture. As a tech generation focused on our phones we prolong with a selfie.

I must say that even with some unpleasant situations, we enjoyed the city with everything that it has to offer: great public transport, even a free bus, multicultural, mostly good food, nice views, museums, not too noisy and even the evening rain that cooled the city down was a nice change.
