We love trains and trekking

So we were off to our next advendture. We organized our trip via facebook. It went really smooth except for that time we had to wait at a church for one hour in the early morning in cold weather….
We got picked up at the hotel and were brought right up to our train compartment. The next day a bus took us from Lao Cai to Sapa. The train was earlier than expected and so we had to wait in front of a church almost an hour. I guess we should have taken a sim card with not only internet.

In the end everything was fine and Su picked us up. We got some pho for breakfast and started our trek. Since Su was our private guide she let us decide which way we wanted to take. We decided to do the scenery hike on the first day. What a beautiful view. On the hike she showed us some plants and took the small paths instead the main road. We learned how indigo is used and got to try the dying on our hands. We also learned how to grow sugarcane and tasted it as well.First day of trekking

After we arrived in the homestay in a small village, we went to the pool beneath the waterfall and Chris took a swim. At the homestay we met some other travellers and had a great time eating and drinking happy water with both our guides, too.

I went to bed early and had the best sleep in a long time. We were right beneath the roof in a wooden house. We had warm blankets and nice comfy matrasses and in the morning the sunshine came through the cracks in between the wooden planks.

The next day we did more trekking through a bamboo forest, more villages and the rice patties. Our last stop for tea was in our guides hometown. There we got picked up by motorbikes and brought back to Sapa. Then we got back to the train station in Lao Cai and after dinner it was off to the nightrain back to Hanoi.
