One night in Guilin & following the Li river

Last night train for now

Morning coffee

Our last night on the train has passed and we make our way to the hostel in Guilin via over crowded busses in the afternoon traffic.  Never rely on the description in the booking app, usually the hostels website is much more helpful on how to find your way through town. This old place is actually a really nice hostel, close to the sun and moon pagodas, clean and with excellent staff. We walk around town, have streetfood and get to bed early because the next day our journey to Yangshuo is supposed to start.I found my place on the bus

The next morning is not as relaxed as it was supposed to be but things do not always go smooth when travelling. We can not get on the big boat but instead get to go on a bamboo raft down the Li river. We get to the Li river on a tourist bus and are for the first time part of a chinese tourist group complete with a flag and a guide. The raft ist actually made from pvc pipes but it is nice if you ignore the sound of the engine.

The scenery is beautiful and our boat partners (always 4 people on a boat), a lovely chinese couple, shares some dragonfruit with us. The boat ride brings us to the spot shown on the 20 yuan bill. Another bus ride later we are in the town of Yangshuo. It is not as small as we thought and our hostel is actually in a nearby village. It is the perfect spot to relax (und zum Seele baumeln lassen). The next post will be on hanging out in Yangshuo!
